For thousands of years, women have been tending the sacred flame of the heart and of the hearth.
In ancient times, Hestia was revered as one of the most noble and powerful goddesses. Though she had no great shrines or temples like Aphrodite and Athena, she was honored at every offering...whether it was personal, for the family, or for the community.
This reverence was given to her because of her role as "Keeper of the Flame"...the sacred flame of love that keeps love burning bright in family and relationships. This role, shared by mothers everywhere, was seen as not only sacred, but essential for the well-being of all.
Motherhood Today
In today's world however, we've forgotten that ancient wisdom. Mothers and women today are rarely "honored" for the incredible work and value they bring to relationships.
Society doesn't give awards or kudos for "great mothering" or for the incredible skill we often naturally have in "nurturing" relationships.
And often we don't value that ourselves either, and instead feel mostly "obligated" or "on auto-pilot" as we tend and care for our family...falling into patterns of overwhelm, exhaustion and self-neglect.

Inspired by a 40-day family travel adventure by "trains, planes, and a variety of automobiles" thru the Western United States, my husband and I created a company dedicated to discovering, creating and maintaining the sacred spaces of relationship...The Extraordinary Family Adventure.
This journey of gradual shrinking spaces taught us these 4 things:
Family is FUNdamental.
The family unit is the perfect space to teach, model and build successful relationship skills... and it can be fun too!
Relationship skills can be learned.
In so many areas of life, we are trained to be successful, yet a key area to living a fulfilling life is neglected...relationships. We either do not learn relationship skills or we copy what we learned as children. Often neither lead to successful relationship building.
Sacred spaces can be created, even in everyday life.
Feeling more connected, supported and love doesn't require physically "shrinking spaces". We can do it anytime when we have the conscious intent, rituals, and practices to drop into how we choose to relate to one another.
Creating a more loving world, starts in our hearts and in our homes.
Our grand vision is to light up the world with love... one heart and one family at a time. And it all starts with you and your commitment to seeing relationships as sacred, Sacred, means something "valuable", something worthy of devotion of time and energy. Imagine a world where we all held our relationships as sacred!
